I was in my first year of High School, and my guidance counselor was looking for opportunities to keep me off the streets and out of trouble. He asked what my favorite TV show was, and my quick answer was “Miami Vice”, about the adventures of two detectives fighting the war on drugs. He handed me the brochure for the US Customs Explorer Program, and I was fascinated. At my first meeting, the advisor asked, “Who is here because they watch Miami Vice?” ...
