BIS targets affiliates
The Bureau of Industry and Security (“BIS”) released a long-expected new rule, the Affiliate Rule, more widely known as the 50% rule. The interim final rule was immediately effective, requiring companies to control exports to customers owned 50% or more by a company on BIS’ entity list (see the Focus in this issue).
