Treasury targets Hezbollah financial network
The U.S. Treasury Department designated two senior Hezbollah officials and two financial facilitators who work closely with the Hezbollah leadership alledged to send money from overseas donors that constitutes “a significant portion” of the group’s overall budget, according to a notice from the Office of Foreign Assets Control (“OFAC”). The sanctions target what OFAC described as a critical funding network operating between Iran and Lebanon.
