The European Union has adopted a “framework” for targeted restrictive measures “in view of activities undermining the stability and political transition of Sudan”. Fighting continues in Sudan since clashes erupted in April between rival paramilitary groups in the capital, Khartoum, raising fears of a return to the full-scale civil war which ultimately saw the country split into two states in 2011, Sudan and South Sudan.
