“E5” seek to tighten up circumvention efforts

On 26 September, the countries previously known as the “Five Eyes” intelligence alliance (Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States) changed the name of their partnership to “The Export Enforcement 5” or “E5”. At the time, they issued new, more specific guidance – “Exporting Commercial Goods: Guidance for Industry and Academia” –  on preventing the circumvention of export controls focused on products Russia uses in its military and weapons programs.
