In Warren Zevon's classic ‘70s rock tune Lawyers, Guns and Money, a young man, trapped by his relationship with a waitress, laments, “How was I to know she was with the Russians, too?” The titular line is followed by a plea: “Dad, get me out of this.” This story could easily apply to a hapless firearms dealer or manufacturer who allows for the illicit export or reexport of commercial firearms, with potential legal and administrative risks.
