Canadian pleads guilty to stealing US tech to set up rival in China

A Canadian national, who had been living in China, has pleaded guilty to stealing proprietary technology used to make batteries for electric vehicles from a US carmaker, with the aim of setting up a rival business in China.
According to the Department of Justice (“DOJ”) , Klaus Pflugbeil, 58, and his co-defendant, Yilong Shao (who remains at large) conspired to send to undercover law enforcement officers trade secrets that belonged to a leading US-based electric vehicle company.
