Conflict of controls: US-bound Canadian ship seized in Germany

On 4 March, Atlantic Navigator II, a 633-foot-long Marshall Islands-flagged vessel ship that was traveling from St. Petersburg, Russia, to the United States was seized by German Customs authorities in Rostock due to the cargo – Russian uranium and lumber – being sanctioned by the European Union and banned for import into the bloc.
The US$43 million value cargo is said to be one of the highest values of cargo seized in a cross-border trade conflict of laws situation.
