Honeywell’s settlement with DDTC highlights risk of recurring violations

On 27 April  2021, Honeywell and the US Department of State’s Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (“DDTC”) entered into a consent agreement to settle alleged violations related to unauthorized exports and retransfers of technical data controlled under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (“ITAR”). While not breaking much new ground, the settlement reiterates the importance of effectively controlling technical data transfers and avoiding recurring violations.
